How do I study and get good grades?
QUESTION:
I’m a new college student. How do I study and get good grades?
ANSWER:
Welcome to college! Your time spent in college is supposed to be a rewarding experience, however, most students find themselves caught up in a study trap quite soon after they start their first year.
You have the power to prevent this as long as you manage yourself accordingly. Here are five tips to follow to help you get good grades:
1. Learn to manage your time
The best students use every second of the day if possible! If you are successful at mastering how you use the time available to you on a daily basis, you will get more out of your college experience. And, you’ll notice a difference in your GPA.
2. Prepare for lecture
Always go to a lecture having prepared beforehand. Whether you have to do an assignment or a reading, don’t skip out on any of your pre-lecture work. 3. Never miss a class
So many students justify missing a class here or there. Don’t be one of them. Make sure you attend all your lectures.
4. Ask for help
Approach your professors and TA’s during their office hours or after lecture to get help. Never let a question go unanswered.
5. Study in the same spots
Make it a point to have a few select study places you always go to. It’s important to have a consistent study location to minimize your distractions.
